Pre Natal Depression
I just got discharged from Raffles Hospital today. as i just cannot take another day of staying in a hospital, so doctor granted me my wish of being discharged. I was rushed to the Hospital on Thursday At 6am.
Was getting ready to perform my morning prayers when i was attacked by short of breath and suddenly feeling lightheaded. Hubby, whom was also getting ready to do the prayers and going to work, was shocked at the sight of it.
But he remained calmed. He called up my gynae and was asked to rush me down to Raffles A&E. He changed me and packed all the neccessary documents to be brought along.
There, Hubby took few snaps of the wrecked me.
Me given the oxygen
Me unconscious due to the medication, in the observation room and waiting to be admitted.
Me being given oxygen again in ward.
Me resting, while Samuel sleeping on the lodger's bed.
The view from my ward.(Sempat eh?)
Ok. This is what happened. I am having such great hormonal changes that I am suffering from Pre Natal Blues. MAybe due to stress from work and coupled with looking after my baby Samuel and others.
I would like to share the Symptoms of PNB with the rest of the pregnant mothers.
Depression in Pregnancy
The experience of pregnancy and subsequent mothering represents a transition in the life of a woman. Many women are able to cope with pregnancy through support from various resources such as prenatal classes, public health nurses, and routine medical care.
However, emotional difficulties, specifically mood changes, may be frequently encountered during pregnancy. These changes include increased irritability and sensitivity, tearfulness, insomnia, loss of appetite, lack of motivation, crying spells, anxiety attacks, and occasionally thoughts of suicide. Proper treatment is important.
Symptoms
You may be experiencing some of these symptoms:
* depressed mood/sadness
* disturbed sleep
* a change in appetite
* guilty ruminations
* excessive worries about your own or your baby's health
* panic attacks with heart palpitations and shortness of breath
* recurrent obsessions or ritualistic behaviors that significantly interfere with your ability to carry out your daily activities.
* thoughts of death or suicide( EEEE...selisih nauzbillah min zalik! Never thought of this).
Overcoming PNB
Treatment during pregnancy involves several avenues. Developing your support network is extremely valuable. Having yourself surrounded by supportive individuals that you know can be beneficial, particularly if they have experienced the same feelings. Talking to a professional or psychotherapy can be very beneficial, particularly since there are major changes going on during pregnancy. Medications can also be used during pregnancy under the care of a practitioner who has experience with using antidepressants and other medications during the course of pregnancy and breastfeeding.
To all expectant Mothers, Take Care. Do Not think too much or be overly sensitive over non issue things. Do not let it affect your joy of being Pregnant.
I was advised by the Doctor to take a leave of absence from work and to rest as much as i can. Haiz, home based pun stress. I have never faced the above symptoms until I'm pregnant. Hmm..Hormonal changes.
Hubby have been great. He have been very supportive. He is planning to take me away for a break to calm myself down. And my dearest Lawyer is a great guy. He asked me to put the lawsuit on hold until I'm fully energized and will prepare the neccessary while I'm doing that.
Right now, I'm having doubts on pursuing the lawsuit as i was preferring a family conference, our family(hubby & mine), the other parties family(hers and the fiance). I have no idea right now. I'm in between going east and west. She was once my dear friend. We had a great time together. But things happened. Wished there are another way out but i doubt so.
Huh! Life. For now, i just have to let loose of it. Rest as much as i can and get back on tracks with my life.
To this,
Ya ALLAH, Help me find my ways.
